It has been a month since the Hatching. A month since Zwaarth had Impressed on S'ai. S'ai wondered where time had gone for it sure passed him by pretty quickly. It was not so long ago when he and the other weyrlings had had to keep feeding their dragonets every time that the woke up from their slumber hungry and kreeling their hunger for every weyrling and dragonet to hear. The first sevenday had been hard what with Zwaarth being such a picky eater. Zwaarth wanted his meat to be cubed not just chopped, he especially liked wherries which means more butchering time for S'ai, and Zwaarth always wanted to have the plumpest wherry from the bunch in the indoor feeding ground.
Another day has dawned and Zwaarth said to a still sleepy S'ai, Mine, wake up. I am hungry and wish to have some wherry meat. S'ai opened an eye to see Zwaarth's snout inches from his face. No doubt the dragonet would do something to wake him from a peaceful slumber like licking up his face. eww. Talk about dragon breath. S'ai batted away Zwaarth's snout away from his face and getting up from bed said, "Okay, okay. I'm up." as he stretched his muscles and yawned sleepily. S'ai quickly did his morning ablutions and within minutes, was leading Zwaarth to the feeding grounds.
Arriving in the indoor area, S'ai looked at the various feeding pens that held various herdbeasts and wherries. There were drudges in the indoor area awaiting orders to serve Riders and Weyrlings but S'ai rather liked having to butcher the meat up for Zwaarth. On one side where tables holding up butchering blocks with racks of knives. There were gloves to protect hands from accidental slicing located in a bin near the table's end and aprons hung beside a wall for use by anyone willing to butcher for their dragon or dragonet.
As S'ai eyed the tools he would need to use, Zwaarth was busy looking at the wherries and choosing which one he wanted to have for breakfast. Finally locating the plumpest wherry, he turned to S'ai and excitedly said, There! I see the wherry in the middle of the bunch crowded over by the right corner of the pen. as he once more turned to look at the wherry he liked.
Putting aside those tools that he would use so that no one else would use them, S'ai turned around to look at the wherry feeding pen. Sure enough, he soon saw a rather fat wherry in the middle of a bunch of other wherries near the right hand corner of the feeding pen. S'ai just shook his head at his Bronze's propensity to favor wherry meat when there were so many herdbeast with more meat in their bodies. Anyways, S'ai went into the feeding pen to try and get the wherry that Zwaarth wanted for breakfast.
