Name: Arai
Age: 14 Turns
Hatching Date: 8/08/2232
Colour: Bronze
Rank: Protector
Appearance: Arai has dark bronze stripes going up and down his back (kind of like a zebra) with light bronze splotches on his side and haunches (kind of like a leopard) and a bright bronze almost golden in coloring his underbelly. Having reached his full growth potential, he is 14'in length and 16hh in height.
Personality: Arai is rather smart for his kind. Having been handled by a very well-informed man. Taking some trait from his handler, Arai tried his best to better his knowledge of communicating better not only with his handler but also with his brethren. He strives to give other whers a better understanding of the human language. He is very protective of his family and very wary of strangers human or whers alike. It might even be said that he is more protective of clutches that their mother is. Arai cherishes the youngsters in the pack but... he disdains the old whers for in his opinion, the oldsters are just a drain in the Pack's food supply.
History: Arai, once known as Levisk, hatched with a handler nearby. This handler, Levin, was a Journeyman Healer which was the reason Araisk probably understood the human language a bit better than most whers. He had a somewhat happy life when he had a handler. He liked to listen to the music that his handler plays for the hall. He even liked being played with by the children at the Hall and not treated as some sort of lowly creature just because of his appearance. He pretty much loved his handler however... his happy life was struck asunder when the killing disease swept over the land. His handler being a Journeyman Healer always went out of his way to try and help those victimized by the disease. It was not long in 8/1/2142, that his handler soon contracted the disease and died of it. Levisk found himself handerless and left... well... pretty much left for the wild for no other human in the Hall ever came out to Bond with him. The children who were once many in number dwindled until the few who were left were vicously protected by their parents never letting those still healthy out of sight and away from those who were sick.
Life in the Hall became dull and Levisk did not like being left out all by himself. Lonely for company, one day he just up and left the Hall and tried to see if he can find others of his kind that has been left handerless. In time, he met up with a pack headed by Rin. She had renamed herself after her handler had died from the same disease that his handler had also. Wanting company and liking the principles of the pack, Levisk joined and soon became a Protector of the Pack. It wasn't long after joining the pack that Levisk changed his name to Arai, a word he remembered from his handler's readings that meant Wild. For now, he is content with protecting the others from harm but... in his heart of hearts, he longs for the time when he would once again have a handler of his own just like old times. And being a bronze, he instinctively knows that soon Thread willonce again fall from the skies of Pern. He didn't know what the pack will do when that time comes but he hopes that when the time comes, he will have become an Alpha Male and maybe lead the pack in helping out with the eradication of Thread during night time just like what the legends said his Kind's purpose is in life.
